Additional Notes

Junior ‘B’ Championship began in 1991 while Junior ‘C’ Championship began in 2022.

No Junior ‘B’ Championship in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2012, 2013 and 2016 to 2020.

In 2012 & 2013 Junior ‘B’ Championship was not played, and in both years Intermediate ‘B’ Championship was played instead, with St. Marys Granard winning the Intermediate ‘B’ title in 2012 and Cashel winning the title in 2013.

As a result of a competition review in 2015, the Junior Football Championships (A and B) were discontinued in 2016 and 2017. Instead an Intermediate β€˜B’ Championship was played in those two years. Killoe won the Intermediate ‘B’ title in 2016 and Colmcille won the title in 2017. In both years the Junior ‘A’ Championship trophy was used for Intermediate B winners.Β Junior A Championships was restored from 2018, while Junior B Championship was restored from 2021.

Junior B Championship has had a few different cups over the years. The original trophy was the Paddy Hourican Cup, but by the end of the 1990’s the winners were presented with the Kevin Hughes Cup, and by the mid 2000’s a different new cup was being used. In 2010 when Abbeylara won it, the cup was not available so they were presented with the Junior ‘A’ trophy which was then used the following week for the Junior A Championship winners. Since the revival of Junior ‘B’ Championship in 2021, the Paddy Hourican Cup has once again been used.
