Note 3: This is not all past underage names, only those where further clarification of the name is deemed necessary.

Shannon Gaels actually beat St. Colmcilles in the 1960 Juvenile Championship final. However an objection was lodged by Colmcille on the grounds that Shannon Gaels had included a player from another parish in their team who had already played with that other parish in the same competition. It was also discovered that Shannon Gaels had included two unregistered players. Hence the objection was upheld and the title awarded to St. Colmcilles.

The 2019 Juvenile ‘A’ Championship final between Killoe Γ“g and St. Colmcilles/St. Francis was not played after a dispute arose ahead of the final over the eligibility of a player. Killoe indicated that they would not fulfill the fixture until the matter had been heard by the relevant authority. Subsequently the Longford County Board hearing found Killoe in breach of the rules by not fulfilling the fixture, and the club were fined, expelled from the competition and the title awarded to St. Colmcilles/St. Francis. However Killoe appealed that decision to the Leinster Council, but by then the Covid-19 pandemic had set in, and hearings were either delayed or on hold. The matter escalated further when the Killoe Young Emmets club (the parent club of Killoe Γ“g) received an unprecedented 48-week ban from the Longford County Board for failure to pay the €750 fine relating to the above Juvenile ‘A’ Championship final issue. However the Killoe club claimed that the matter had been appealed to the Leinster Council and was not yet heard. The controversy made national headlines and was decided upon by the GAA’s Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA) where the ban was revoked. See link for the official report.

It is unclear where the decision on the awarding of the 2019 Juvenile ‘A’ Championship title ended up.

A second Juvenile Championship competition known as the ‘County Championship’ was played in addition to the regular Juvenile Championship in 2016 & 2017 to facilitate clubs short on numbers who wished to form group teams to play 15 a side championship. Carrick Sarsfields St. Dominics (an Independent Team comprising Carrick Sarsfields + St. Dominics + Moydow Γ“g) won this competition in both years. It was not continued thereafter.

Juvenile changed from U-16 to U-15 grade in 2021 & 2022 and back to U-16 from 2023.
